Is this lawful? UK copyright and parody
UK copyright law has carried an exception for caricature, parody and pastiche since October 2014, at section 30A of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
The exception only helps where the use is fair dealing. That weighs what was taken, why, how much, and what it does to the original.
The exception governs copyright, not platforms: a post the law would protect can still be taken down by a complaint or an automated match.
